Hi all,

I was browsing the net for some info on dlp 3d and came to this site. I am an owner of a Samsung 46" DLP TV from last year that says it supports 3D. When I bought the tv and did some search, I found the 3d technology was due later in the year. Now I see there are actually hardware/software out that makes use of all this. Do you think its worth it to invest in the tridef starter pack. I only do console gaming on my pc and mostly watch blurays only. I find the 3d technology has not reached both these areas. I also read 2d to 3d conversion is also not there yet. Would this help me watch all those cool 3d movies like Spy kids 3d and others and get better experience than with the included glasses and normal tv???

hi and welcome to the world of 3d! Nope the tridef drivers are only for games I think. You can watch the 3d movies with the standard glasses that come with the tv. Remember though that if you just get a regular dvd/blue ray/whatever of a 3d movie it will most likely be the 2d version so look out for that- make sure it claims to be the 3d verison.

The TriDef starter pack does include software that will allow you to watch 3D films. There is not a lot of content available (yet), but its worth it if you just want to experiment with what it out there. You will need a decent PC to run the gaming drivers but if you are not gaming on the PC then you don't need a super-computer. There are other options if you want to get more technical but the TriDef pack is a simple solution to get you started. The glasses it comes with will also work with other drivers if you decide you want to pursue this further, so you won't be wasting your money.
