I recently viewed the 2012 Emagin annual report and found some interesting information.
Many of us have been interested in seeing an upgraded version of the Z800, which appears long overdue. The Emagin company seems to be going very well over the last couple of years. Too bad I didn't buy shares in the company at 30 cents each.
Anyhow, to quote a section of the report:
Sony has developed and released a 3D consumer HMD that utilizes their OLED microdisplays and was specifically designed for the consumer with their
typical electrical interfaces. We do not expect the introduction of this product to significantly affect sales of our Z800 in our historical markets. The Z800 has
an established OEM base and has more flexible interfaces for ease of integration into the training and simulation market (largest market segment), where the
Sony HMD was specifically designed for the consumer. However, even though the Z800 represents a very small part of our business, we have experienced a
decline in Z800 sales. We believe that the Z800 needs to be updated. We plan on updating a version of the product to digital from analog and increasing the
resolution.
