You can just email them to ask for an address change. That's what I did.

But they didn't tell me where in the queue I was :(

I see. the problem at the moment is I'm not sure where I'm moving yet so I need to hold off on that. Are they going to send me an email or anything before sending it out or will it just show up one of these days?

You could have it sent to a relative's or friend's house, if you're really worried.

Magneon over at reddit was kind enough to whip up a script to determine the order of the kickstarter backers. Just search for whatever handle you entered in the survey you received after the kickstarter ended. Keep in mind this list contains all backers including the cheaper $5 and $20 donations. so if you're past 5000 don't lose hope as there are probably quite a few donations ahead of you which aren't actually getting a rift.

Be sure to subtract the units reserved for us pre-Kickstarter folks from that 5000, as by rights, we should be getting ours first. ;-)

Yeah Im questioning that list somehow :) I backed the first day and im well over 5500..lol
Must be alot of 5-20$ donations

Is very interesting that they can extract all customernames that easy tho

I backed on the 13th, and that list puts me in the 4400s. I believe Magneon's methodology was somewhat flawed.

I backed on the 4th and on the list I'm number 7000-something. Yeah, it doesn't seem to be accurate at all.

Indeed, I backed on the 1st day and i'm 4711 on the list.

Perhaps it's a matter of if you go to "Backers" it will show you 50 of the backers and you can go to the next page to see 50 more and the next for 50 more etc untill you've seen all the backers. It's random though and the 50 that are on page one today are not the 50 that will be on page one tomorrow.

Perhaps when he "mashed together a quick wget -> cat -> grep -> awk to generate a massive numbered list" the order of the names is simply the order in which they would appear on the backers list for that day and if he did it tomorrow to generate a list everyone will be in different positions.

It's interesting to see Jonathan Blow is #1 on that list, but I do think that list is flawed.

I've pledged in much smaller kickstarters before and I've noticed that my name changes position on different visits. Also, it would make sense to see Jonathan Blow on either the first or last page if those names are ordered by time of pledging. But he does not appear on either the first or last page (page 188 at this time). http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/152 ... s?page=188

My position on Magneon's list is past 5000, which makes no sense because I pledged on day 1.

Backer's list is randomized. See official FAQ: http://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/bac ... thEverBack

I said that :P

I'm guessing what he's getting is just the current randomised backer's list (not a list of when pledges were actually placed) hence the odd positions.

Yeah. No way that could be correct. I backed on the first day and the list has me as 3500 and something.

Alcatel is launching a 5 inch 1080p phone:

Price of displays should be reasonably down by the time the consumer Rift comes out

Was really hoping to see Jaron Lanier's name on the list. Can't believe he didn't buy one (unless he used a screen name).

Possibly a joystick/throttle controller being developed by Oculus & RSI, according to the video. Star Citizen is looking like the featured launch title.

Nice video. 280MB download (1080p version). I used videograbber.net to archive this one, due to its embedded "not for distribution" notice making it potentially ephemeral.

Doods, people aren't even allowed into my house, never mind the office. What I might get used to having around..might be something that is not to shown to people. I might not remember to clean it up or hide it, or even remember that it is not for others consumption (yet -or maybe never).

All some people need is to be told that a thing exists -and they can figure it out from there. Photos only make that worse and moving images are even more of a problem. :)

So yeah, I'd expect a tour of any given tech office to observe a minimal amount of, uhm, circumspection.

(too bad they did not manage to get suite #420-simply for the amusement factor)

I suspect the latency tester will be something that only the more-hardcore developers will have.... or not? I can easily imagine enthusiasts testing their rigs and graphics settings with it now...

It might even become one of those standard phrases when bragging about a system. "How do your games run?" "Oh, you know. 1920x1080, 97 FPS, Max Settings, 16x CSAA, 23.6ms etc etc."

How important is that Latency Tester?
If it is really useful for me, then I guess I will order one. But a more practical part my brain says ... if you are happy with what you see through the Rift, then your game runs well enough.
I hope they will wait with production planing until all devs had a chance to evaluate for themselves how important such a tool is. I don't really want to order it now.

107 in line. You guys are quick jumping in line for those preorders!

I hope it can be used to test latency on LCD panel monitor and DIY HMDs too. But with that "Rift eyecup" shape, perhaps not. We will see when more details are released.

It would be nice if the design allowed placing it directly against a display panel, or if necessary, snapping it off the eyecup to place it against a display panel, just like devices used for color calibration. It may be early enough in the design cycle to allow a design change so that this device may be used with more than just a Rift Dev Kit...

EDIT: This appears to be a standalone device, but it somehow needs to know WHEN the video image was created (by a trigger at some point in the input pipeline). If it is standalone, perhaps it can read the Rift IMU directly. Is that how it works? I will have to go do some more reading about this device...

I hope that 23.6 on the latency tester is an indication that those kind of numbers are within reach in the near future. :) Carmack said that 20 ms is somewhat of a sweet spot.
