Problems with 3D on Laptop

Post by shinra358 »

I ordered a 3dvision 1 kit but it doesn't work on my laptop. If I click on the nvidia exe thingy that checks, it say display not compatible. But the display is 3D capable because it is the same one that is used on the internal 3D version of the same laptop.

Laptop screen hardware id = LGD02C5
Eurocom Panther 5
Clevo P570WM
980M
i7-4960x
Premamod bios p570wm v5
nvidia 3Dvision 1 kit

Is this one of those clevo not buying a 3Dvision license for 980ms issues?

What are some alternatives/how can I do 3D without buying an external tv/monitor? I'm waiting on vrvana totem but they are taking too long. Insight?

3D Vision only works on hardware specifically made to use it. Particularly with a laptop, the screen must be 3D capable and approved by Nvidia.

Even some hardware that should technically work won't unless it's been specifically whitelisted by Nvidia.

In addition, laptops with Optimus have all sorts of other problems, so you may not even be able to buy a 3D monitor and have it work.

If you are 100% sure the display on the laptop is actually 3D, you could try an EDID override with the EDID file from the real supported model but this can mess things up if done wrong, so attempt at your own risk.

Really sorry I can't bring better news.

The edid is almost the exact same as the p370sm3 (2nd to last post): http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewtopi ... =15&t=2388

Here is the edid from my current machine:

the p370sm3 in the post has a 780m and my p570wm has a 980m. so there are no 3D alternatives without buying a tv? weren't there 3dvision competitors? tridef only works with 3dvision?? I know how to produce the edid file but how do I do the override?

See here, I thought prema was saying that the internal emitter didn't work past 780m because clevo didnt buy the licenses. I'm still not sure if he meant the screen with this hardware: https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/ ... z-emitter/

And then when I look at the nvidia page: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technol ... orted-gpus

On the notebook end, it doesn't say anything about 3dvision being supported past 780m.
