Hi everyone!
I am a Wii and ps3 owner from Italy and I' ll probably get an xbox 360 this coming summer.
Unfortunately I have not a powerful pc, so I am hoping S-3D technology coming to console soon.
I am spreading word about S-3D gaming in 2 or 3 Italian videogame forums, some of us are very excited about it, some are skeptical (usually the ones who know less about it...).
I read an interview (http://www.play3-live.com/news-ps3-films-blu-ray-en-3d-entretien-avec-tdvision-8435-p2.html) about S-3D arriving onto ps3.
I know also of a disney 3D blu-ray ("Hanna Montana whatever whatever... " coming out on 19th of August)... do you know what technology it will make use of?
I am pretty sure, then, something will be going on during E3... both ps3 and xbox 360 (the one with hdmi) have 2 video outputs, so, as said in the interview, I guess iz3D monitors will be compatible too (beside Samsung 3D ready televisions)...
I was going to get a new tv this summer and unfortunately here in Rome I can only possibly get a Samsung 50" PDP (we don't have dlp at all)...too big and a little too expensive to me... or an iz3D 22" monitor, and that' s too little. I was going to get a 37"...maybe a plasma panasonic, maybe a sony lcd with hd decoder in it. But I would definitely prefer a solution that allows me to enjoy S-3D.
I heard that with an hd-ready plasma 3D-ready the resolution, during stereoscopic gaming, drops from 1280 x 720 to 640 x 360... is that true? I know this wouldn' t happen using iz3D monitor since it uses 2 lcds one on another...
Can you tell me something about S-3D announcements at the coming E3???
Since then, I will keep playing on my 14" crt...so please, hurry giving Europe a middle-sized S-3D screen (I saw in the US a 42" PDP 3D ready is available, but not here in Europe...)

1.
resolution on Plasma (and DLP) screens is only halved: 1280 x 720 to 640 x 720 or to 1280 x 360

2. the TDV tecnololgy is made by one of our sponsors, so you'll finde some good information about them here.
TDVisor is a Head Mounted Display (HMD). Basically it's a little like a VR helmet, but smaller. It has two little scrrens which are accessed by 2 inputs and show 3D, if the input is right.

3. couldn't find any good TV's in europe, too. For me it does not matter much, because I use PC most of the time

I hope you'll enjoy the forum and find all MANY usefulll information :D

Hey man!

Oh cool, Hanna Montana on 3D Blu-ray! I didn't know that. I was just way too embarrassed to go to the theater for that, but I wouldn't mind having it on blu-ray.

There are a lot of posts here on the different 3d solutions. Mostly all of them will allow you to watch 3DDVDs, 3DBR isn't out yet so I'm not sure the deal with that. A number of new 3d monitors are coming out this year from a bunch of companies. It really depends on what you are looking for and how much you can spend. I think Zalman has a 32" 3d set coming out in a August, but it goes for around $1800. They should be available in EU. Samsung has some good prices on their big-screens 3d-ready sets (at least in the US). You may want to wait until the end of the year to see what monitors will best support the new 3D blu-ray standard.

If you want to test-drive some stereo3d gaming now on your CRT monitor in the meantime, get a pair of these. They're only $10:

Stereo3d may or may not be coming to consoles soon. If you really want to game in 3d, chances are you are going to have to do that on the PC for the time being.

Hope that helps, and welcome to the community!

I' ll wait until the end of the year then! If nothing comes up I might upgrade my pc...but I'm not sure about that.
Bye!
