Movies in 3d...Can I get them?

I read on here that Monsters vs Aliens would not be released in 3d. I know there have been other 3d movies out before this like Beowulf. Are any of these available in any fashion? Is there any way to get the films in side by side format?

There are some (usually older) 3d movies available in side-by-side and field-sequential (standard definition).
The only commercially available 3D HD discs available so far are analgyph (red/cyan or green/magenta).
There's a full list here: http://www.3dmovielist.com

There are some 3D DVDs available in HQFS format but they are mostly crap to be honest.

For the serious 3D BluRay you will have to wait until 3Q 2010.

I agree that there is a very limited amount of true stereoscopic 3D movies out there but the best I've seen (for quality) are the Sensio DVDs which WILL play in Stereoscopic player if you rip them to your hard drive first. Spy Kids 3D is one of the best quality 3D movies in this format and it's a fun film too. I have Taza Son of Cochise (from Underground Movies) and that looks excellent, so I'd imagine that the Sensio Edition would look as good as if not even better than this version.

I really think we need to start a petition and get the likes of Warner Brothers to start releasing classic movies like House of wax and Dial m for Murder in side by side (or field sequential) formats. I'm pretty certain that there would be a reasonable market for them. I've already contacted the Warner Shop/VOD people but they say that they don't have any 3D movies to purchase or download. :x We need more proper 3D movie content like this.

I found a few "cheap" dvd's for a "cheap" price here:
http://www.ultimate3dheaven.com/10dvd3dpopa.html
you can select "The Fear Files 3 DVD Set"
and "Blood Guts & Vamps 6 DVD Set"
so you get 17 dvd's for 50$, not too bad even if those are probably crap dvd's

Isn't this illegal?

I know in some countries your allowed to make a back up of your retail purchased disc but then I find it strange that stereoscopic player offers this kind of support for sensio movies. I don't know how good the people at Sensio would feel if they knew Sensio movies could be played on a computer with stereoscopic player. The reason I say this is because Sensio themselves sell their own hardware and software solution for PC's, this is for people who do not want to purchase the Sensio 3d processing box, but their hardware/software solution is still expensive but not as expensive that their processing box. So if it's that easy for people to do it with stereoscopic player, then I don't why Sensio haven't done anything about it.

Shut the hell up, at the moment the best source of 3D Movies is illegal, we have to live with it, the Movie Companys made it this way, not us! Underground Movies is the best source for decent Field Sequential Movies, of course they are illegal when you consider the Movie Companies copyright crap, but they are the only decent source of Field Sequential for the latest movies. So please realise the movie industry is driving us to breaking the law, maybe things will change with the release of BluRay 3D. But until then we have to take the best we can get, and at the moment that means breaking the law. Its funny how breaking the law is the only way for us at the moment.

P.S. I bought Journey to the Centre of the Earth on Bluray 3D (Green/Magneta), and pirated the Stereo 3D version, does that make me a criminal? Apparently it does, despite the fact I couldn't have got the proper Stereo 3D version any other way!!! Anyone who isn't on our side doesn't deserve to be a memeber of MTBS as far as I'm concerned.

Since when has buying a DVD and watching it in the privacy of your own home been illegal?

The DVDs are legally for sale online and at Amazon. How I decide to watch them in the privacy of my own home is my own affair.

No need to be rude! I was only giving my opinion and asking a question!

Anyway I found this rather interesting press release http://www.marketwire.com/press-release ... 29508.html

and these are the 3D supported aspen media servers that are talked of in the press release http://www.aspenmediaproducts.com/Aspen ... fault.aspx

I checked the sensio SD 3d processor on cwonline and it costs now $995. When it first came out it was $3,000 and stayed at that price for a very long time. CW online don't have many 3d Sensio movies and they don't even sell the really expensive HD 3D Sensio processor. It does seem strange, the aspen media servers are for people who want a complete PC with 3d movie support and the new Arcsoft total media theatre which now supports the Sensio 3d decoder software which allows Sensio 3d movies to be played. The media servers support full HD and are way cheaper than the Sensio HD processor which I believe costs about $6,000. So this does all seem interesting, it seems that Sensio are moving out of the hardware arena and focusing on supporting other systems by licensing out their 3D decoding software, because all that their 3d processing box is, is just a PC with some 3d chip set.

But anyway as some of us on here have 3D compatible PC rigs. I guess we could even use this arcsoft theatre for sensio 3d playback. I wonder if it has better playback than the stereoscopic movie player.

I just have three questions:

Is this stereoscopic movie player the one that was around back in 2000? I remember hanging about in the stereovision.net forums all those years ago and there was this stereoscopic movie player.

Did this stereoscopic movie player evolve into the 3dtv.net stereoscopic movie player?

Lastly, does this stereoscopic movie player at 3dtv.net support colorcode 3d glasses?

Peter Wimmers program has been pretty much it this whole time (as far as I remember).

Yes, Stereoscopic Player supports ColorCode and like 100 other outputs (although not sure why you'd bother with ColorCode).

Yeah I didn't want to make a big deal but I think that dude is a hax0r. His supposed "HD 3D video" was only 295k which would be maybe 50 milliseconds of HD3D video if even that. Tried to open with the Stereoscopic Player and it didn't work. Then I scanned it for viruses, didn't come up with anything, but its likely malware of some sort. Not gonna bother ever going to that dudes site again.

I downloaded the full file and it played in Stereoscopic Player.
However, the first time I tried to download it stopped at ~295k too. I just hit reload and it downloaded the full file.

I tried to download again and this time I got like 20MB then it finished (it said all downloads complete, there was no error). I got to watch like the first 15 seconds of video, some grass field with yellow flowers. Looks cool, but I am not going to take a part-time job just trying to download this video. I don't know if its your server or my connection or a combination of the two, but this its just not happening.

Works fine with IE and with FF too.
Do you use some DL manager?
Maybe change there some settings.

This video is on my site almost a year, and nobody have a problem with DL.
But anyway, i will also ask my admin.

Hey relaxman
It worked great for me, thank you :) . - what camera setup did you use?

For people having problems, try a download manager, the site supports resuming if the download breaks.

I took a quick peek at your code it's all clean., although I didn't have any issues. You use a script called "statcounter" this is flagged by some security tools as a potential vulnerability. It's not malicious, but potentially could be. I think that's what possibly could be causing the "warnings" to appear for some visitors. It maybe best to look for a alternative method for your webstats.

As to the "Movies in 3d...Can I get them?"
For red/green type anaglyph glasses - yes lots.

For nvidia/Iz3d
The answer currently is pretty much NO There are no movies as far as I am aware in a acceptable quality. A few bootleg re-encoded ones, maybe hiding somewhere. There are a small handful of low budget old Sensio films in low quality, and some 20+year old field sequential poorly encoded films. Nothing worth noting.

It's a very disappointing state of affairs. Please if anyone knows of a good film in high quality that can be seen. I would love to know.

Ok, so I finally got to watch the video (on YouTube). Nice work man! I am really sorry for calling you a hacker (although in some circles that could be a compliment). I guess I jumped the gun due to some weird issues with your hosting provider. I'd definitely be interested in seeing some more videos like that but you should probably make your own thread in one of the video sections instead of posting in some random other thread. Anyway, stick around. The video was cool.

Cool, I use 2 HV10's too, to shoot 3D family clips. Do you do anything special to sync? I just use the remote control to start the recordings at the same time. Haven't really done any editing/re-encoding yet, but just playing the original left/right files with Stereoscopic Player. Some clips sync well enough; others have problems.

At the beginnig of every shot i made a clap, this helped syncronizing clips in post.
For relaxing film, this was enough..
In a next few week we make a circuit, that can show the sync difference between two camcorder from 2 composite input, because hv10 dont have lanc.
then i can make a sport video too

Hello,

If I understand well, they are factoring 3d tvs but no content is really available? :(
So, if I buy a 3d tv, I'll only be able to play games on it?

The Blu-ray Disc Association expects the 3D Blu-Ray standard to be finalised by the end of this year.
Panasonic and Sony have announced they will release 3D HDTVs (mid) next year which I expect will coincide with the commercial release of 3D movies and other 3D content on 3D Blu-ray discs.
