Nvidia 3DVision compatibility checker fails my Samsung DLP

Post by rmcclelland »

I have a Samsung 3D DLP I have been using with iZ3d drivers and some old shutter glasses. Works great, but takes effort to get games working playably. I an pretty excited about the new Nvidia solution. For some reason they are promoting Samsung 120Hz LCDs but only Mitsubishi DLP TVs. The compatibility checker:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/GeForce_3D ... ility.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Does not recognize my Samsung as a valid 3D display. Bummer. Doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

Thanks,
Ryan

what in the world... their compatibility list confuses me:
Samsung & ViewSonic 120 Hz LCD display, 100 Hz CRTs,
DLP Mitsubishi HDTV and DepthQ Projector
I mean... really? [1]

because the 3D driver still says - no shutter glasses support, or anything that runs with them
* Passive polarized stereo displays
o Zalman Trimon ZM-M220W (22 inch 1680x1050)
o Zalman TriMon ZM-M190 (19 inch 1280x1024)
o Zalman HDTV LCD (1366x768)
* Anaglyph display with red/blue stereo glasses
mixed messages...

woah... just look at that games compatibility list - some sort of an evil joke? I am impressed if that many really do get the "excellent" rating.

P.S. did you run into the "spontaneous swapping of left & right eye" problem with iZ3D drivers?

[1] are shutter glasses back, or not? and just ONE DLP projector?

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you. I have a Sammy 67" DLP.

What the heck Nvidia? Why support only Mitsu DLP tv's and not Samsung DLP's?

I would understand it if Mitsu made their own glasses like Samsung did.

I really like Nvidia's glasses. I don't think its right to market only for one TV manufacturer. Shame on Nvidia. :x

We'll see what happens once folks get their hands on some of the Nvidia glasses. Maybe it will work.

I haven't had any left right switching problems. I use an old ATI9700, edinmensional glasses, and the iZ3D driver.
