AU Optronics 144 Hz IPS display (M270DAN02.3)

Post by DmitryKo »

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news_archiv ... #144hz_ips
... a new 27" panel (M270DAN02.3) currently in development which will be based on AUO's AHVA panel technology, equivalent to LG.Display's IPS and with very similar performance characteristics. This is a 27" panel with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness, sRGB gamut and 178/178 viewing angles... This will be the first IPS-type panel to natively support 144Hz refresh rate...

Also in 27" size there are some new 2560 x 1440 AHVA (IPS-type) panels coming soon. The M270DAN02.0 with sRGB gamut and the M270DAN02.1 with Adobe RGB gamut go into production in October and December respectively. There is also the M270DAN02.2, M270DAN02.3 and M270DAN02.5 going into production in September with sRGB gamuts.

Would be great if it supported 3D, but maybe that is asking too much.

AFAIK the panel does support frame sequential 3D by the virtue of its high refresh rate (if these 144 Hz are a real-world figure that can be tested, and not some marketing gimmick as with all those interpolating "240/480/600 Hz" LCD TV panels).

Now it's up to the display makers to actually design and market a stereo 3D-capable monitor out of this - with support for DisplayPort 3D and/or HDMI 3D stereo modes, wired or wireless shutter glasses, gamma/brightness compensation curves in stereo 3D mode, etc.
