This looks fantastic. The trailer gave me a feeling I haven't had since maybe Myst IV.

This March! :)

Seriously though, we're just putting the final touches on our campaign right now. We'll make an announcement here as well as the front page of MTBS and a few other gaming news outlets once we've got everything in place. Getting much closer now though, so it shouldn't be too much longer.

it's not Oculus ready.. it's desigend for oculus that's a big difference ;D
just like TVs that are HD-Ready and those that are Full HD..
Oculus ready would mean it was designed as an regular game and got Oculus support afterwards. At least in my interpretation :D
In those words, The Gallery would be a full Oculus game :)

Any plans for binaural audio to give extra depth to the VR experience?

We'll be offering Oculus users a special tier which gives them early access to beta episodic content as we move through production. No one wants to wait for Oculus content! (us included).
virror wrote:Any plans for binaural audio to give extra depth to the VR experience?
Its been talked about quite a bit actually. The real problem with binaural audio is that it is resource hungry when implemented into real-time 3D space. Its something still on the table but we can't openly commit to it until we find a way to keep it lightweight.

Just a general update for anyone following:
We are in the final push to our Kickstarter reveal. You can expect more news about that next week! Exciting times ahead and we can't wait to share!!!

That's a huge focus in our game. No 3rd person, no breaks in immersion. Body persistence and scale with options of motion control support for gross motor interactions in the arms, hands.

Maybe it's better to hold off on the kickstarter until people start getting their hands on the dev kits - that way people will be itching for "Made for Rift" games?

It's not about the shipping date, but generating interest during the fund raising period.

Not really, because if not on Kickstarter those games would take the same amount of time for producing them, if not longer due to no expectations from the customers because they wouldn't even know about the games beeing developed. The gap from announcement to shipping the game would only be shorter when using traditional methods. Many of the games on Kickstarter wouldn't even exist without funding the development because it's hard to convince publishers funding non mainstream games!

+1 backer here as well.

This is great timing though, right before & during everyone receiving their rifts (in the next 30-days of the Kickstarter). I can definitely see many people backing it just to test out the beta on their new Rifts (especially if it's immediately available).

You mean the new skyrim/fps open world shooter RPG that is oculus ready from CliffyB?

Cliff is kind of a Jerk, but we love him. But I still want to support indie developers even more than the first triple A title that is rift enabled.

Thank you so much for the kind words Brantlew. That means a lot coming from you and given what you have access to. You are on the Alpha team! :)

The Gallery for us is an opportunity to explore a wide range of worlds and possibilities in VR. Kind of a "VR sampler" in an interesting way.

This!
That's really great of you to say guys! You get extra special treatment! lol. But seriously, word of mouth support is going to be just as important as funding.

All available limbs are crossed :)

Timing our Kickstarter with the release of the Rift works for us but I can see both sides of the equation to be honest. That being said, we aren't really in a position where we can comfortably delay our launch either. This is a full-time job for us and we need this to get underway so that the bottom doesn't fall out. Little mouths to feed and all that ;)

Speaking of, here's a small tease from our Kickstarter page. We're just in the final submissions process and tying up loose ends this week. Very, very close now!!!

As a guy who fantasizes of having secret rooms and crazy tunnels to explore beneath my house then this game is right up my alley. Keep up the good work and I cannot wait to explore the world you have created.
