GearVR accessory incompatibilities

Post by geekmaster »

I bought the fancy Note 4 flip cover for my Samsung Note 4, only to discover that it will not fit into my GearVR with the official Samsung cover. It will also not work with the cover removed because the battery does not snap in and just falls out. I discovered this when giving VR demos at a party, but I was lucky that somebody at the party had a Note 4 and allowed me to borrow their original back cover so it would fit into my GearVR. What was Samsung thinking to allow this FUBAR situation?

Actually that's the common situation today. No backward compability. No repairs or exchage of parts. Just buy new and trash all the old... Keep with the flow!

Ahh, I see! So when I bought my new Note 4 $50 flip cover, I was expected to trash my old GearVR, eh?

Given that the S6 is glued shut at least there may be a market for old units, with dead batteries, as tethered GearVR units.
