I wondered what Korea was up to. We hadn't heard a peep out of them, despite their Oculus office there.
It looks like they've been working on some great experiences. I wish I had a Rift Hopefully it will come soon.

im just shocked at how fast and efficient they are over there
not only is the quality of their development superb.....it is also lightening fast...they are throwing alphas up while we discuss kickstarters
they might have fully complete game experiences before most of us even receive our rift....outstanding

While certainly neat, why exactly is this GROUNDBREAKING? It looks like virtual cinema and an Amnsia version of The Gallery. Nothing to sneeze at, but not exactly world shattering.

Its pretty impressive for a one man team, and I would love to work with him.
But I agree that its not correct to say its groundbreaking.

He's already making these for free whatever you do don't give him any ideas to try charging money for it.

"Ground Breaking " WTF !
Pong & Space Invaders were ground breaking....
This is far from ground breaking...
Transport me to a holodeck with a 180 FOV, zero latency, HD screen & 9 DOF.. now that , I would class as "Ground Breaking"
till then nothing comes close... SAD BUT TRUE

Am I the only one getting tired of all these flashlight games? Silent hill was 13 years ago. I understand some people may be afraid of the dark but I just find it annoying

As far as Rift applications go, they are breaking new grounds. As far as I know, there's no other full featured cinema application with 3D movie support.mickman wrote:"Ground Breaking " WTF !

Re: GROUNDBREAKING Rift Development out of Korea...with Demo
Coolest thing, i mean, coolest thing about this tech is on the PC side of the equation.
We have the processing power, video rendering power, memory, storage, and software to create near real worlds, especially at the detail level of current and 2.0 rift resolution. To think a $175 video card (ie. 7870 LE for example) can almost crank out 50-60 fps on high detail in most titles is a good sign. That means when we finally do reach that 2.0 resolution, $200-$300 cards will be able to fully accommodate.
Getting back to the topic, I think we will see a raised value in concentrating on highly intricate level detail, at a much smaller map scale. Since we don't need to move at high speeds to create a sense of excitement with VR, think of processing power that could go into rendering just one house (ie poltergeist)...or one room (bank heist simulation). Which also means that in confined spaces (house/room) our current gaming hardware should be 100% able to create believable real worlds. Surfaces such as ceilings and floors, will now be deserving of higher level textures (ie tessellated carpet) and higher quality scatter objects. Also areas that would normally be taboo to games (tight rooms, narrow hallways) will be right at home in VR.
I agree its not groundbreaking, but I love the look of the horror game, considering the minimum development team.

Agree, it's great! I tried his VR cinema demo and I just love how polished and easy to use everything is (you can even play other video formats, as long as you renamed them in "movie.avi").
Not to mention horror game.. amazing!
Hats off to Koreans.
I know cinema demo is some kind of indirect competition to our forum member, but to be quite frank, I don't care how many of those cinemas will there be, I want them all! It's like choosing between different movie theaters in your VR town

Tried the VR cinema and its amazing.
The sense of scale is spot on and it seems to somehow achieve that "being there" sensation more than other demos. Resolution on the movies looks better than I would have expected in the rift too, and side by side 3d works well.
Looking forward to trying namielus's cinema. Is it released yet?
