Skiing Game?

Post by ElectroPulse »

Hello, all!

So, I was just thinking about the Razer Hydra, and the idea popped into my head... Why not a skiing game?

After some looking around, there aren't a whole lot of choices... The closest thing I've seen is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ6ndpNzqTE

However, I'm guessing there isn't one that would support head tracking?

Anyway, figured I'd throw this idea out there in case anyone knew of an existing game that could be used with the Rift/Hydra.

That's an awesome idea. The hydra for the ski poles, and you could also use a wii balance board to simulate turning pretty well I imagine !

Ah, I hadn't even thought of the balance board idea... That'd be pretty sweet! Could get your whole body into it :D (provided you could keep your balance while doing so... I have yet to receive my Rift, so don't know how difficult that is).

I imagine a skiing game can be very immersive for standing, forward-facing VR since there is no walking involved. That and skateboarding, hoverboarding, magic carpet, etc.

Is there also a foam covered pneumatic arm that knocks you on your ass if you catch an edge?

Figured I'd necro my own thread for this in case anyone was interested...

Just ran across a game on Steam called SNOW. Gonna be a free-to-play game, and will have Rift support! Here's hoping they add support for the Hydra/Sixense/other VR technologies :D

Here's the link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/244930/

So looking forward to having access to my Rift and fast internet again in a few months :)

Bought that a few weeks ago, its pretty nice actually!
Rift support already works in game but there are no menu support for it yet, made me really sick though because there are so much motion in all directions all the time : p
