me too .. but the falling right at the end might be hard to swallow. I love thought that when you die you leave your body and see yourself ... kinda like all those near death experiences.

Okay - that finally convinced me! I loved GTA IV (as a sandbox) and wow I need to visit that world and throw grenades into the traffic from skyscrapers again.

Re: Game I would love to see for the rift!
The only problem is that the shadows in GTA are 2d, and so wouldn't be able to work with a stereo 3d mod. So you'd have to disable them making the game look a lot worse. But it would still be awesome!

Re: Game I would love to see for the rift!
GTA IV would be AMAZING with the Rift! It's a fully modeled giant city brought to life. With the first person mod you can look around your car as you drive, you can look down and see your hands and body, look to your right and see your passenger if you have one, just walking down the main strip and looking around the city would be cool. You can hop in a cab and take fare's driving people around, or get in a cop car and chase down criminals, or just cruise around. The main story mission do take control of the camera a lot though, so that sucks. Exploring this city in Virtual Reality none the less would be quite the experience though, even with shadows turned off!
When this game first came out on PC it was horribly optimized, ran extremely slow, but now fully patched it runs very smooth. I have a Steam copy with the first person mod and compared to the first video posted in this thread it runs twice as smooth, 60FPS for sure at 1920x1080 res with graphics turned up to high. I have a i7 870, 12GB RAM, and an Nvidia GTX 560. I'm sure you could get it running in stereo 3d at 1280x800 at 60fps turning down some of the graphics. Maybe the VorpX driver will support it ? To be honest though I think the VorpX driver sounds too good to be true, I don't think it going to offer the experience its advertising. I sure hope I'm wrong though! Regardless, i'll still buy it for something to play around with until more content is released for the Rift.

Re: Game I would love to see for the rift!
I just recently decided to play Deus Ex: Human Revolution again and I have to say that there's lots going on that would work well with a rift interface. First of all, the problems - you regularly switch between 1st and 3rd person for the cover system and I'm not sure how jarring that will be, so that might be a killer right from the start. However, in first person mode, since the idea is that Jensen has cybernetics and AR in the first pace, I think it would feel very much like you have those optics as well. I think in terms of HUD, Deus Ex is right on the money.

We need 640x800 @120fps, not 1280x800 @60fpsdrgroove101 wrote:I'm sure you could get it running in stereo 3d at 1280x800 at 60fps turning down some of the graphics.
And to make GTA4 run @120 fps may be difficult, even in low-res (is this even possible, and with which rig ?)
Looks like a big demo compo in FPV :maboo63 wrote:for THAT we need rift support - it's like a lsd trip!RABID wrote:http://e-x-o.com/

Huh? The rift is 1280*800 60hz.drifter wrote:We need 640x800 @120fps, not 1280x800 @60fpsdrgroove101 wrote:I'm sure you could get it running in stereo 3d at 1280x800 at 60fps turning down some of the graphics.
Also, it looks like the GTA first person mod only allows for head rotation on one axis. That's gonna be weird for sure using the rift.

Re: Game I would love to see for the rift!
Yes - he means you need to render 120 frames at a resolution of 640x800, 60 for each eye. So 640x800 @ 60fps x 2 (eyes)Grix wrote:Huh? Re: Game I would love to see for the rift!
1280x800 @ 60fps is a more accurate description imo. When you render multiple cameras at once you are rendering one frame that contains both camera views, you aren't interleaving or rendering alternate 640x800 frames. You're rendering one big composite frame at 1280x800 that consists of two 640x800 views.drifter wrote:We need 640x800 @120fps, not 1280x800 @60fpsdrgroove101 wrote:I'm sure you could get it running in stereo 3d at 1280x800 at 60fps turning down some of the graphics.
