Sounds like Palmer gave everyone at the Verge some hands on time, blowing their minds after the livestream. And myself checking Twitter compulsively, it's also gotten producer of Jimmy Kimmel's show Gavin Purcell's attention with good ol' CliffyB willing to make a connection. And it was only Tuesday! Wonder what, and who, the rest of the week will bring. Did I ever mention how excited I have been for months straight? Good thing I ordered it months ago, instead of finding out about it today--meaning the wait for the consumer version will be eased with some game development and Rift me time.

Good stuff. Especially loved Nilay's overall reaction the demo. His gaming outsider's perspective that nonetheless thoroughly approves hints at a whole new branch of possibilities in the future (virtual tourism).
And hey Oculus guys... is the dev kit going to come with some of those demos that you guys are showing off so that we have something to try with it right out of the box?
I mean I know there's also Doom 3 BFG and Hawken at the very least, but it'd be nice to chill out on a sandy beach and in a medieval village.

Awww, man, the hypetrain is hitting me hard. Joshua Topolsky just went over the top with love for the Rift: http://www.theverge.com/2013/1/8/385391 ... es-tuesdayStarts at about 35minutes in. Talks about coming down from acid as they took it off.

Haha! That's pretty cool. I've watched a few episodes in the past and these guys normally tear into products pretty good and are very candid and critical of products.

The Rift is getting 2/3 of the votes so far. The Nvidia Shield is coming second with about 11.8%, which means the Rift is 6 times as popular as it's nearest rival.

Can there be such a thing as too much hype? I would hate for people to be disappointed when the Rift finally ships.

I'm afraid of the same thing. I mean I love the Rift. I've tried it, thought it was awesome, and ordered two, but some of the hyperbole that is getting thrown around - statements that the device "changed their life" and that it's as profound as an acid trip just seem extreme. I just hope people don't take every word to heart and then feel disappointed when it doesn't transport their soul to an alternate universe.

Thats a hell of an endorsement. Wow, for anyone that doesn't know, Josh Topolsky was editor in chief at Engadget, started The Verge, and is regularly on Jimmy Fallon. He is one of the biggest tech journalist. I'd don't personally like him that much because he is such a huge Apple fanboy, but this is a HUGE endorsement for Oculus. I hope Palmer and crew are ready for what's about to happen.

A slow or faltering introduction into the public? I'd prefer that it makes a big splash, so that it gains momentum and has a shot at becoming as ubiquitous as the "Wii".

A lot of people's idea of 3D is a 2D -> 3D movie conversion, so its not surprising to me when people react that way after seeing full on 3D, especially with wide FOVs.

Yet another great CES impression: "The Rift is certainly one of the most amazing things I've seen at CES this year--hell, in any year. It's not really possible to describe what it's like to use it, but as soon as I put the goggles on and turned my head, I think my mouth dropped. It's flat-out awesome." http://www.popsci.com/gadgets/article/2 ... ng-amazing

Quote: Oculus LLC's quickly gotten funding if this reached 36 zillion in less than 36 hours, and also ended up with an extremely healthy volume of $2,437,429. LOL!!!
