Optical illusions generated in the peripheral field of view

For those developing virtual reality experiences with wide field of view displays, some interesting visual illusions need to be dealt with.

This article explains the situation as applied to baseball.

Basically, the peripheral field of view acts differently to the central field of view, and this could be important for rendering scenes with fast moving objects.
