Wizard of Oz 3D bluray

Post by ceashure »

Has anyone had the chance to watch the 3D version of the original Wizard of the OZ? I'm curious if it's worth getting. I know some of the 2D to 3D conversions can be real headaches if not done properly.

I have it and I was surprised how it enhanced the movie in my opinion. When you watch it in 2D, it’s obvious that all of the backgrounds are matte paintings. In 3D, the backgrounds have varying depths within them, and suddenly Oz feels ever so slightly like a more tangible world. I might not be the best person to comment on this because post-conversions in general don’t bother me as much as they do some people, but I’d definitely recommend it.

Hey Alleostro, sorry for the 2 months late response but if you’re still looking I’m pretty sure I got mine from Amazon. Here’s a listing for around $50 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FNXEHZ8/re ... iFbYR0NRHA) but I would recommend this bundle with Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland 3D. Even if you don’t want the second movie, the whole bundle is only $35: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G4H4GDB/re ... iFbEACX6PH
