Hey so I got in on that Oculus Rift Summer special sale and picked up a Rift and Touch Controllers for $549.00. I ordered on Monday and just got the Rift delivered yesterday night and I get the Touch controllers on Monday I think is what the tracking numbers say. Over all the Rift seems awesome with good support and quality.

I just got it setup now and have to install some more games from Oculus Home and run Steam Vr to see how that works. This headset is lighter than my HDK2 and comes with more stuff, I paid more for my HDK2 at the time. So now I have three headsets, HTC Vive, OSVR HDK2, and Oculus Rift. All headsets equally good in there own design, fit and function.

My dreams from the 90's have finally come true with these new Vr headsets that I can afford to buy and play with superior quality, thanks guys.

How you compare SCREEN DOOR EFFECT on all three, which one looks more smooth and less pixeleted? How you compare RIFT CV tracking with VIVE? (*When not doing room scale)

Vive tracking is very awesome but controller dimension and ergonomics are not friendly.. Rift controllers look small and awesome but they dont do proper room scale.
Waiting for this to get materialized..https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/0 ... ntrollers/ (May offer best of both worlds)

Rift have over all more MUST HAVE experiences, let me know how ROBO RECALL goes?

Hey, so the Screen Door effect is Negligible on the Oculus Rift. Like I can see it but its not bothering me at all cause my vision gets filled by the tracking and game graphics. I think all the headsets I have use the same screens, I know the vive and oculus rift do from Samsung. I can see the god rays sometimes with bright white letters or scenes.

I have to fit the oculus rift just perfect on my face to get a clear image and its comfy too. I like the Oculus rift a bit more than my hdk2 because of the better tracking on it. At first my hdk2 had awesome tracking but when they updated the software it became less stable in the tracking department so it could get better again, it was'nt that bad but could jump around sometimes.

Comparing the tracking with my HTC Vive i would say its almost the same, vive is perfect where ever you are in the space and oculus rift seems pretty stable and spot on even with just two cameras, i heard if you add three then it becomes total 360 degree accurate.

Heres some videos i made with the touch and playing robo recall:

Hi, so I picked up ArchAngel from Steam. Its a mech game with a story and Neil posted in the news section at mtbs3d about it and that's where I found out about it. I made a 360 video showing me playing it for the first time. Two videos total 22 minutes - its a long intro into this game.

So I picked up Chroma Lab from steam for 4.99, its cheap and kind of a cool demo of particles you can move around with controllers. I was using my HTC Vive for it and its real fun and colorful. :woot

Ryzen 5 1600 / 16G RAM / GTX1060 6G, that's exactly the configuration I plan to buy once the graphic cards prices come back to normal.
How does it works with VR ? did you experienced limitations on some games ?

Hi, yeah this computer I have works fast, I am using it with my Oculus Rift and I was playing Robo Recall and there was no stutter at all. I was also playing Dirt Rally on high setttings and it was smooth.

Now if your going to get the Gen2 headsets that are due out in over a year then you will need a better video card I think. But for now this setup would be great and the GTX 1060 is the recommended card for Oculus.

I'm surprised you don't get a Vr System now since its cheap then get the better Vr headset when the Gen2's come out, they will be more expensive at the start. I find the headsets out now are Real Good.

The current generation of HMD just doesn't have enough pixels, screen door effect is a common complaint in several test I watched and on the gear VR experience I had.
4k will look much better :
https://www.roadtovr.com/samsungs-new-v ... rift-vive/

The needed processing power can be reduced with foved rendering combined with eye tracking :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qq09BTmjzRs

As for the price, with more competitors on the market, it may not be so high.

In short, I think the technology is not mature at the moment, so I let early adopters to pay for the development of my future MHD :)

Anyway, graphic cards are still too expensive (when they are available) so I wait...
If I have enough to wait after testing a vive, I may get a second hand one.

Hi, so I've been meaning to try out this game called Compound Vr Demo found here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/615120/COMPOUND/

So I gave it a try and its pretty fun and interesting, I have not mastered it yet. I'm not sure if I can get room scale with my oculus rift yet with two cameras so i'll have to see maybe order another camera.

Heres a 360 video showing me playing Compound Demo

Hi, so I have been playing some 360 roomscale games with my Oculus Rift with two sensors and the way I have it setup my system is not tracking behind me, so I picked up a third sensor for $78 bucks last sunday and just got it delivered on friday. Its gonna be awesome with tracking all around, Rift is a very nice headset. This adds to the cost of the headset so now I spent about $650 on it.

Heres a video showing it:

Hi, I picked up DoomVFR today for around 23.99 CAN its on sale at humble online games store for 30% off. I been playing it for a little while and its pretty decent. The minimum requirements is a GTX 1070 and thats what I got and the GFX are on Low and Medium but its still pretty nice looking and smooth Frames per second.

I've been waiting for this game since Doom 3 BFG Vr Mod was talked about and seems like DoomVFR will be one game I play quite a bit of.

I finally bought an used vive last week.
DoomVFR was appealing, I considered buying it on a sale but since the minimum graphic card needed is a GTX1070 I will pass, I only have a 1060.

Nice! You got your Vive used, I hope it was still in good condition, And a GTX 1060 wow the last time we talked you were on the fence about these latest HMD;s cause they were not 4K.

Since you never said you tried this new Vr HMD I ask, what do you think of the tracking and game graphics that take over the screen door effect? Can you stand your eyes vision with the HTC Vive? Like once moving around in game you do not notice the screen door effect that much, right?

How much did you pay for everything like your computer system parts and your used HTC Vive. I payed $1200 for my Vive brand new last January, so I've had it for about a year now and my computer I payed around $1500 for am i5-6500, 16GB ram, water cooler and GTX 1070.

Did you play your Vive on your racing setup? Dirt Rally is alot of fun and looks pretty realistic with Virtual Reality.

Yeah, at the time I still had to buy parts for a VR ready PC. There was a promotion in November for a GTX1060 and a 7% discount on the other components, so I placed the order.
The order was 794€ for the case + Motherboard + 2x8Go DDR4 2666 MHz + Ryzen5 1600 + GTX1060 6Go
I bought the other parts for ~120 €, so the PC cost me ~920€
I got the used vive locally, it is in good shape except for some scratches on the controllers, everything works fine and is still under warranty, it cost me 430€

Pixels are visible, but the immersion is really good. It remind me when I played PS1 games too close to the TV when I was younger, it's annoying but you can still enjoy the games.

The tracking precision is also impressive, is the oculus comparable, worst or better ?

I didn't tried the vive on the cockpit yet, I still have to find a way to disable the chaperon system so I can play outside the play area without seeing the virtual walls.

When I first got my Oculus Rift it came with two sensors and when I played Robo Recall the track with the guns on your hands was real accurate and did not skip out at all. I then added a third sensor for behind me so I have pretty much all 360 degree tracking now and its real smooth and spot on tracking. Oculus did a good job at this HMD setup and procedure with what they are using, the sensors and controller LED's.

The nice thing about this Oculus Rift I have is that for my racing wheel setup I can have it over to the side behind my desk and the sensors still pick up the headset when I am over there and its outside my play area. Then I just click a few buttons to adjust the game view to in front of me then I'm in the Virtual cockpit. I never tried racing with my HTC Vive yet but I've seen videos on you tube, with Dirt Rally you might have to use Revive. I have revive and its pretty decent, I played Robo Recall on my Vive and was fun and for the most part worked normally.

I found a way to customize the chaperone and turning it completely invisible using : https://github.com/matzman666/OpenVR-AdvancedSettings
So I tested the vive with the racing wheel on the Project cars 2 demo, it's really fun but nothing compared to flying a spaceship on Elite:Dangerous :D
But the controls are problematic, it's hard to use a keyboard when you can't see it. So now I have to make a controller with enough buttons to pilot a spaceship. I Think I will customize my old saitek X36T HOTAS.

Hey, so today I decided to buy Quake 2 and play it in Vr with this mod I found from a You Tube video i seen. I bought quake 2 on steam for 6.49 i think and this mod lets you use your Vr controllers to shoot the gun in quake 2 Vr.

Heres a video to get started with the mod:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSgp0pkX3tc

Heres a video of me playing it. Now overall the visuals look real good and controls are pretty decent. 9 out of 10

Hi, so there is a Steam Spring Sale going on and I picked up Payday 2 Vr for a little less than 6 bucks. This is for the full game then you install a patch for the Vr part of the game called payday 2 vr.

One thing bothers me about this game and that there are to many cops, an endless amount of police which is so fake. Its like zombies of cops all dead on the floor. This should get toned down a bit if you ask me. And its hard to follow instructions in the game when you are getting shot so many times and need to move. So far I give this game like a 7 out of 10. I need to adjust the gfx some more too, I had alot of aliasing jaggies in my headset.

Hi, so I picked up Everest Vr from Oculus Store and am playing it on my Oculus Rift Vr Headset. This experience reminds me of a demo of real life. The voices and sounds (winds and pick axe) seem real and the GFX is real nice. I payed 4.99 out of my Oculus credit I had from them which is nice since this Everest Vr was 18 bucks originally. :D

Hey, so I ended up buying Wilson's Heart on the Oculus Store a week and a half ago on their Summer Sale I think and got it for 11 bucks with my Oculus Store credit. I think this game was like over 50% off, I forget exactly what it was but it was cheap and on sale.

This game looks real and for the first 15 minutes I played it I liked it even though its in black and white. I will play this game more when I can get my apartment cooler so I can have my Vr headset on longer. Overall I give this game a 9.5 out of 10 since the sounds movement/tracking and GFX are top notch. Thanks Oculus! :o

Hey Dilip thanks for the suggestion for Hellblade. I was on the fence about getting it, I heard it was a good game so why not pick it up and was only 32.99. I played it for around 30 or so minutes and I was getting a little dizzy from the camera movement and I was a little hot with my headset on too but was not that bad.

This game reminds me of Dark Souls a bit, I have that game on Xbox one. So far I give Hellblade a 9.8 out of ten, its got real nice GFX and sound. If I put on headphones I can get Binural Audio so I need to try this game out on my Oculus Rift soon.

I also picked up Killing Floor for Steam Vr for 11 bucks this weekend cause it was on Sale, so I'll do a demo of that game soon too.

Hi, so I am playing Killing Floor Incursion and it's pretty realistic and fun. Reminds me of a zombie game but this is kinda like a computer simulation killing monsters. I got it for I think 11 dollars so it was cheap and the full version.

Looks fun, I may consider buying it on a sale but how does the locomotion system works ?
I see you use teleportation, but can you walk using the touch pad ?

Hey I looked it up on Steam, this is what they said:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/690810/d ... 766444639/
Incursion FAQ
This post hopes to provide answers to Frequently Asked Questions you may have that have answers!

What is the difference between the Steam version of the game and the Oculus version of the game?

They should be the same build of the game, with the same content often if not always (patching times may differ). This means that you could buy the game on Steam and use your Oculus headset. Or you culd buy the game on Oculus and use your HTC Vive headset.

However the two platforms use two different backends for matchmaking, stats, achievements and leaderboards. Owners of the game on one platform will NOT be able to play with owners of the game on the other platform.

If I already purchased the game at the Oculus Store can I get it on Steam for free?

No. We are not equiped to track Oculus purchases to enable key grants or unlocks on Steam.

What new content is coming with the Nov 7th Update and Steam Launch?
Hard mode for the campaign - less ammo and health to go around, speedier, more damaging Zeds with a few new tricks. Good luck!
Holdout Mode - How long can you last against the horde? Make your mark on the leaderboards today!
New Weapon: Katana - Available in Holdout
Smooth rotation turning option
Many bug fixes

What headsets are supported/required?
The HTC Vive and/or the Oculus Rift with their respective hand controllers

Is there a non VR client or can I play this content with Killing Floor 2?
There is not a non VR client for Incursion.

And Killing Floor 2 players will not be able to play this content is a different game with its own storyline and content on a different engine. It is not compatible with the KF 2 client in anyway.

How does movement/locomotion work?

By default the game using a telportaion system for movement, which works off a cooldown based on how far the player has teleported in a certain amount of time. This also includes a snap turn system for players to change their orientation.

More advanced (and potentially quesy options) are available to be turned on via the settings menu which include free move and smooth turning.

Thanks !
So it does have a free locomotion setting, good !
I will keep an eye on this game :)
I don't like teleportation, it kills the dynamic of the game, I need to move freely to avoid the enemies.

Hey, so I picked up The Limit Vr Movie on Oculus Store for $5.79 it's 51% off right now.
https://www.oculus.com/experiences/rift ... 5282891104

Its kind of cool and neat to see live action the way they did it, The footage was really nice and clean and looked pretty smooth. Its only 180-degree fov and not volumetric so you have to stay in one spot but it's in 3D.

Hi, so I picked up Robinson The Journey. I bought it on Steam and was playing on my Oculus Rift with Steam Vr. This game has very well done GFX and animations. The dinosaurs and environment is very fluid and real looking. Overall I give this game a 10 out of 10 and its really worth it to pick up into your collection of games.

I paid 12.57 on Steam a few days ago and its on sale now for another 13 hours or so.

Hey so there is a Steam and Oculus Winter Sale going on now and I picked up Serious Sam 3 BFE and Budget Cuts. They were both on sale the two for under 24 bucks. I have been playing Serious Sam for the last hour and its really nice. The GFX are pretty real looking and the game play is not to hard so far so I like that about this game.

Budget Cuts: https://store.steampowered.com/app/400940/Budget_Cuts/
