Hi, good work on the find.
Will this work with a 3d projector like jvc rs40? I can't see in the spec if it supports interleaved signals.

do'nt know dude, but this should work with anything that is interlaced, possibly only works at 1080p aswell as at anything lower the 3d effect messes up but this has only been tested with my 42lw450u 3dtv so i can't really comment about a 720p pj working, try it and see.

When I switched the driver, my games were set at 720P and I had scaling issues where the interlaced image was scaled incorrectly. This could have been due to an incorrect scaling setting in the settings driver but I do know that iz3d/DDD do handle the non-native resolution scaling correctly. I also would like to mention that the inf is missing an extension block so my hdmi audio stopped working, but I may have it working again by inserting the block from my display edid.

As for the projector, it is not using a patterned retarder like our passive interlaced displays are. It is strictly an active shutter device. It has hdmi 1.4a and accepts frame packed, top and bottom, and side by side formats. According to the specs, it is a native 1080p D-ILA projector but does not accept a 60Hz 1080P S3D signal unless it is in SBS format.

I'll add the bit about missing audio, thanks.
The zalman edid i was given came without a extension bloc but as you said you can merge your original bloc with the zalmans, glad you fixed is fine, i'll include that aswell in op.

I know my old sammy c750 2010 model had options for interleaved 3d and that was a active set so it's possible to work on pj's ect that have interleeaved 3d without a passive screen.

If you have issues with the resoluton, make sure you go into the Nvidia panel settings and choose "No scaling".

Ta, i allready have scaling off, if i have scaling off but display selected i get messed up 3d, if i have scaling off and gpu selected i get a smaller perfect 3d image that is only in the center of the screen as the rest of the screen is filled with big black borders around the image.
Interleaved is the only 3d option that does'nt work below 1080p for me with 3dvision,tridef,iz3d.

It supposed to have black borders around it. You can't scale the image or you ruin the interlacing.

I am pretty sure 720P interlaced worked when I tried iZ3D before.
From the changelog:
Version 1.12 – 2010.10.22
[+] Automatic image scaling to native resolution (key DisplayScalingMode) implemented

For some reason I cannot get the extension block to stick. Tv speakers are not a big deal for me though.

Thanks, will give it a go and let you know how I get on. Would be great to game in 3d 1080p as nvidia still does not support sbs.

This is not for SBS. Its for interleaving, which is used on passive displays (FPR).

I know this is an old thread, but.... When I try to load the inf (right click, Install) I get an error box that just says "The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation".
Any ideas?

Updated:
Figured it out. Device manager, show compatible, Have disk, choose driver, Next. Do for both monitors listed.
... I just tried this and it works great! 1920x1080 60hz in interleave mode., using an NVidia GTX 275 card and a Vizio E3D320VX monitor. ROCK ON!

butmunch (or mocca :P)

I tried the interleaved solution on my LG 32'' lw5700 passive display. It works, but it unfortunately does have the colorbug, just like in checkerboard mode (with rollermod)... I tried just with HDMI and I'll try to test it with a VGA cable to see if there's any difference.
Still just frame packing 3dtv play (720p60hz) or page flipping 3d vision (1080p30hz) for me.
But helluva thanks for the tips anyway :D

Cheers!

Gutted for you.
On the ld920 and ld950 vga interleaved work 100% ok,
On this 450u i now have, vga no longer works correctly using interleaved as there is clear ghosting that is caused by sharpness, Sadly though vga has sharpness settings locked so you can't fix the clear ghosting but this is on a 42lw450u so it may be different for you.
You should'nt have the colourbug using a vga cable.
if using vga just use the same zalman edid and overwrite ur pnp monitor. driver ;)

is working on my lg 55lw6500 in rgb one i don't have sharpness locked so i get rid of almost all the ghosting (almost 95% if you ask me) and also swap the eyes shifting the screem 1 pixel, if there is a way to swap the eyes in the override it will be great because in the hdmi, don't now why, i can get 0 ghosting after messing with the sharpness and better image i will buy a better dvi to vga cable to see it makes a diference.

anyway great finding.

As mentioned, this is meant for interleaved displays only. It does not even work at anything other than 1920x1080 because the drivers feed the display line by line.

In order to use the 3D-Vision driver or the 3DTV Play extension, you need to have your dual projector setup accept standard input signals, (dual-link dvi for 120Hz pageflipping, checkerboard, or HDMI 1.4a). This can be accomplished by different converter boxes that may or may not be available, depending on your needs. A better option may be to use iz3d or DDD as they have much better suport for dual displays for stereo 3d.

I have 2 3DXL boxes that by using an HDMI splitter separate the left and right images to the correct projector, it has 1.4 input and outputs 1.3, a software update to the boxes my make it possible but I would need to know what to request be added

You can try this hack, which will allow you to use any arbitrary HDMI 1.4a compatible device with Nvidia:

still can't get this to work. may be due to drivers saying i am on a dvi connection instead of hdmi.
on the upside, i noticed mocca/buttmunch posted this at the 3d-vision forums. would be nice if you could share a bit more about it:

Hi,
yes i can explain that for you.

Using a modified edid with a deleted extension bloc should show that picture, sadly all 3d options revert back to 3d discover anaglyth.
Different driver versions will show different options shown in the pic.
You will need your emmiter or something like it and a edid with its bloc deleted to show the same as image above.
One of the graphics drivers i used named zalman and other monitors compatible with 3dvision by NAME hence the reason i found the zalman trick by accident ;)

I can spoof the zalman edid on both hdmi and vga connections, using a dvi to hdmi and a dvi to vga adapters.
After you install the edid what aheppens, can you please print the screen like the picture above to show me what options you have :)

The options you see are useless as like i said they revert back to discover, well they do for me! Anybody else want to test to see if it works for them?
I only posted that pic as proof of nvidia having passive displays in 3dvision.

Hey guys,

I have the lg 42lw550t passive screen. This fix is so nearly perfect it's painful! I get no audio over hdmi, i've tried merging the extension bloc in from before using moninfo, but it didn't help. I can live with this though, instead just using a line from my soundcard, my main problem is I can't seem to shift the screen by 1 pixel to get the eyes swapped.

Has anybody got experience of doing this on an LG TV? I've searched high and low but found nothing yet!

Cheers for the great work!

Dno about the audio as i use a soundcard and optical so have never had todo teh audio fix, maybe somebody else can help.

I no longer have a lg as i swapped to a perfect interleaved toshiba 42" 3dtv so cant piont you in the correct direction through the tv's menu.
There was only image shifting using vga on both my old lg 3dtv's, are you using a vga cable and not hdmi?
Using vga the setting for screen shift will be where your contrast motion plus ect is if yours has it.

Thanks for the reply bud, unfortunately i'm using hdmi so I reckon this may be why I can't adjust it. I could switch to vga (although that would mean unplugging my humble dreamcast).

I have managed to find an interim solution, getting 3d working on at least the most current LG TV's (and maybe older ones) at 1080p and equivalent of 30hz, by using rollermod, but then foregoing checkerboard (nasty colorbug on LG) for page flip, which the new passive screens can interpret. Looks great and way better than framepacked 24hz! I'm new here, so I'm sure someone else has already done this, but if it's of interest to anyone I'll post how I went about it in a new thread

I'm in business now. I can do 1080p @ 24 hz or 720p @ 60 hz just fine, and I merged the extension block from my TV's EDID with the Zalman and HDMI audio works like a charm too.

I couldn't really figure out how to get the merge to work at first, I opened the original containing the extension block I wanted and then went to the merge with inf sub menu, but I couldn't see any indication of anything happening and it would seem nothing ever did. I found the actual extension block, took read-only off and just typed in 01 on the Zalman EDID and I'm going :woot

I'm still learning, and have obviously learned that games are a no go at 1080p @ 24hz because of input lag and chop-sueyness of it, even with Game Mode on my TV. It's either 720p @ 60 hz at 42 inches, or 1080p @ 60hz at 25 inches for around the same price is what I find. I'm usually a resolution freak but I'll take the bigger screenI believe. =D

Thanks.

I was able to almost get it to work. The problem was, that the eyes are mixed up. in other words, if I turn my glasses upside down it works.

My TV doesn't seem to have that +1 adjustment that the OP mentioned. Nothing I do can fix it. I have an LG LW5300.

I also wanted sound via HDMI, so I tried using Moninfo.exe to do as the OP said, but I probably did it wrong, and the inf file basically has my original edid info in it, but is still called a Zalman in the control panel.

So I think I have to give up. So close though! If anyone has suggestions, I'd be happy to try them.

As a side note, just got my 3DTV and am really disappointed with this whole 1080/24hz thing.

Hi,
This is how i play.

Glasses have the lenses removed and are stuck with superglue onto the opposite eyes ;), this is no issue and is 100% better than having upside down glasses, its allso easier than trying to cut the lenses down to fit.

The image shifting is most likely only active when using a vga cable, this is how it was on my lg 42lw450 and 47ld950 passives so if your using hdmi then that will be your issue most likely.
I just use hdmi and superglued glasses.

Shame that you need sound, i'm sure you can find somebody in the avsforums edid thread to make you a working edid with sound.

First off, want to thank the OP so much. I tried out IZ3D and felt it was a sloppy solution at best, and especially because i had everything capable of 3D out of the box from nvidia, but they block it for bullcrap reasons. Here is my setup:

Vizio E3D320VX
8800 GTS 512 Nvidia (driver 290)

Works great! As soon as i went to the control panel for Nvidia, this time when i clicked enabled Stereoscopic 3D, it came up with a new menu that just wants you to put on your glasses to test if the 3D is working right or not. Of course, it worked perfectly. After i clicked finished, it loaded up some 3D images, and all of them looked perfect in 3D. I then tried out Left 4 Dead 2 in 3D and it looked awful! Then i tried out Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, and it looks AMAZING in 3D. I will need to try out more capcom games in 3D it seems.

Now, is there anywhere i can go and test to make sure the 3D is performing properly, like test images or what not? I see a lot of people who say they have to swap lenses and such, but i did not have to do anything like that, worked as is. Thanks for any tips you guys can suggest, and again, AMAZING work by the OP, you are awesome.

p.s. - My system locks to 1080p @ 60hz automatically, didnt have to tweak a thing like the op mentioned MIGHT happen. Just a FYI.

Hi,
The ghosting your seeing is clear ghosting correct or is it colours ghosting ?, check the links at bottom for reference pictures. I think there are ways around the colourbug/clear ghosting by using isf expert and sharpness setings but this creats major lag!
I suspect you have a clear ghosting that is fixed via what i wrote above.
I had to sell my lg to fund a toshiba passive to get this mod working correctly.
Sadly lg are terrible and have a few 3d bugs that ruin checkerboard and interleaved.

You see ghosting in powerdvd because
1. 3dvision is set to interleaved so you have clear ghosting or colourbug
2. micro polerized is interleaved so has clear ghosting or colourbug.
3. checkerboard has colourbug either way.

There's too much to explain so you will have to read the following links for more info.

Hi,
I feel you bro, it does suck hard!
These 3dvision mods are the only reason i sold my lg, it was the best thing i ever done as the lesser known toshiba's are better than lg in more ways than 1.

I really do feel for you guys with lg's though :(
