I think one accomplishment worth of mention for 3D in 2011 is the fact that some reputed filmmakers like Martin Scorcese, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson started to embrace the medium. Previously 3D has only been used by one such director (James Cameron) or by animation studios and lower profile directors. To me it shows that 3D in cinema is no longer a gimmick or a quick cash-in for blockbusters but that it's becoming a real tool for good story tellers.

Well I've got my LG passive display and 3D Blu-ray player all set up to go, so I'm looking forward for what's in store for 2012. Already got my beady 3D eyes on the 3D Blu-ray release date of Hugo and amongst other things, I'm looking forward to the likes of Prometheus and Mad Max 4 in 3D.
