Some sad news to share with everyone today. iZ3D LLC is officially ceasing operations and will no longer be developing stereoscopic 3D drivers and related products. As stated on their website: iZ3D, Inc. Discontinues Operations Over the last year iZ3D reorganized the company to better respond to changing 3D market conditions and to promote joined marketing with 3rd party 3D hardware providers. However, despite diligent efforts to join forces with other 3D companies and despite initiating an Open Source project, iZ3D was unable to secure new relationships and new funding. Regretfully, because of lacking funds, iZ3D is no longer able to meet financial obligations. Therefore these financial realities force iZ3D, Inc to discontinue its operations on July 31, 2012. Many thanks to our customers and partners for the support extended in the past. Read full article...

Good bye iZ3D.
The iZ3D driver has been my primary 3D software ever since it was made available with anaglyph output. I would like to congratulate the iZ3D team for everything they have accomplished. Even today with no updates for over a year and the lack of profiles for the most recent games, their driver still has an edge in many games and runs with better fps performance than Tridef in almost all the games I have tested. Especially when turning Anti-aliasing on.
Let's remember other features introduced by iZ3D right from the start such as one-eye shifting (also called one-eye aiming or dominant-eye aiming), particularly useful for playing shooters which don't have tweakable huds. A feature only added by Tridef a few months ago and still missing in Nvidia drivers. iZ3D also allowed users to tweak the advanced config and profile files by leaving them in clear text and providing descriptions for the available commands. The iZ3D driver also was the driver with the reputation of working the best of the lot on non-profiled games, out of the box. Let's not forget iZ3D's commitment to it's community and almost daily answers from the iZ3D team on their forums. (until the reorganisation last year)
But all wasn't great either. iZ3D biggest strengths was also it's weakness. The iZ3D driver control centre provided all the options without any accommodations for beginners, some options were hidden and had to be called by keyboard shortcuts (the license manager), others were labelled with confusing terms (DLP checkerboard output and the different "shutter" ouptut modes), and the lack of resolution/framerate out-of-range protections for the AMD HD3D ("shutter") Hdmi 1.4 output which allowed users to unknowingly set resolutions and framerates that were not supported by 3DTVs. To make things worse very few games had their convergence already set on the first launch : the iZ3D driver philosophy was : since 3D users always want to change convergence so let's not bother pre-setting them in all games. iZ3D realised it's mistakes way too late and it's efforts to improve it's beginner user experience didn't work out well. This made the driver very hard to sell to the press, to non-3D specialised bloggers and to OEMs. iZ3D's original licensing system also caused issues : some features like Open-GL Quad-Buffer were exclusive to the iZ3D monitor, others like 64bit application support only worked on the free outputs (anaglyph, iZ3D monitor and free ATI DLP checkerboard) and not on the other paid outputs due to a bug with the licensing system which was never fixed.
Since it appears iZ3D is going down, I would have hoped the team could release the code and or some of their internal tools in the hope someone else could build upon and improve them but according to what they said in their previous announcements they cannot do so without money, and it's a shame. Goodbye iZ3d, you will be missed.

Two words - stereovision.net - should we be ramping up a project to harvest their forum before it disappears? I've got enough extra HD space laying around somewhere. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this? I'm looking into options.
EDIT! DAMN! Too damn late! Dangit! Man I hope someone there still has a heartbeat. My 22" unit went south a few months ago, (like so many others) but a couple users had tracked down the fix. I was going to get to it, but now the info is vaporized! Likay? Wasn't it you who spearheaded those posts? Dangit!

I think you mean this thread. And yes, my own iz3d also died a few months ago. Replacing some of the capacitors was enough for me and it's still running strong. There's no guarantee that replacaing the capacitors is enough but i've heard about quite a few success-stories by now to consider it worth a shot. You'll find some info through the thread (5 pages). If there's something additional that you need to ask about you're welcome but troubleshooting faulty electronics over the net is somewhat futile.

Oh well. thx.. I guess I didn't put a lot of effort into that. I went to the forum through their homepage link, and got the take down notice. Maybe there is some hope of grabbing some info before it says goodnite completely. Thx again.
DOH! I had hit the link for "support", and not "community"...... must have been Rift jitters.

Wow... you guys made me teary eyed! My time with iZ3D started by making friends with those in the company, and my loyalty has been that way. If people said bad things about the company, they said bad things about my friends. I treated it as if I was part of it, not just that I worked for it. So, thank you all for your support over the years. I know some things happened that made some of you sour, but know that it wasn't anything that we could necessarily control. Or even anything that we could talk about. As -iz3d- employees, we always had the customers as our priority. Due to my loyalty with you guys, I am willing to donate some time to maybe fix licenses that some of you may have issues with. But know that I am donating this time... So sometimes it may take a while. If you ever have any license activations, or you get locked out, anything like that... please PM me on here. As far as the iZ3D Forums... They are hosted on a separate server. I still have control over such server/forums. If I hear about things being discontinued such as that, I'll see what I can do about saving the forums. I may also bring up the possibility of creating new Moderators to help keep spam away. I got my job there by creating the forums from the ground up, so I would love to see them continue to remain going in some form. Either way, iZ3D was an integral part of my life. It wasn't just a job to me. It was what launched my career, what made me a well known name in the LAN community, and what introduced me to so many things. And to ease your hearts, I AM employed by a new company (Thanks to people I know from my time at iZ3D )

Hi Welder! It's sure a pity to see you go but at the same it's great to know that you're fine! I hope Kinddragon, Sigurd and everybody else keep their heads a good bit above surface also. Your offer tells a lot about you as a person and you have my deepest respect. I appreciate it and i hope it will be appreciated by others. Thank you for the time that has been. Iz3d made gaming a so incredibly much better experience for many. Fare well!

When I discovered iZ3D, I was very enthusiast an so I supported it as much as I could. I was disappointed on the way it turned the last summer and now I'm sad that it's the iZ3d final point.
Good luck to all iZ3D employees and thanks Welder for the forum.

It's really hard to see IZ3d go, I have been using their driver ever since it was introduced and there are still games, which have better support with iz3d than any of the other manufacturers' drivers. What I enjoyed most was their responsiveness when it came to solving game related problems and general discussions in the community. They really shined when we were let down by Nvidia, were it not for them I don't think s-3d gaming would be what it is today. I have to say that I would have hoped for a better turn of events, maybe had they reached out to the community earlier....who knows. I wish them the best in their future endeavors and hope that they stay in the field (maybe help Palmer with the SDK ). Anyway, goodbye iz3d, it was great while it lasted PS.: Welder, it's great that you're taking it upon yourself to help iz3d consumers in need. I think that all of us will be forced to go through a reactivation sooner or later.
