This week, DDD released a full TriDef update as well as a beta release add-on for the Ignition stereoscopic 3D drivers. While several game profiles have been added, we think the most important revisions are likely advanced shadow handling algorithms for Dead Space 2, Dirt 3 (DX9), Crysis (DX9), Trine 2 and Total War Shogun 2. We are hopeful this means that the shadows are no longer absent and are indeed rendered in stereoscopic 3D (which is a big deal for 3D gamers).
TriDef Ignition 3.5.40 Beta 1 added a few extra game profiles as well, and most notable is Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier. While this was supposed to be the first game to use DDD's 3D SDK, it's unclear if there was enough follow-through on Ubisoft's end because there have been forum complaints that it's a 2D+Depth rendering (e.g. Power 3D) versus a true stereoscopic 3D gaming experience with left/right camera rendering. This new beta driver is supposed to include an "improved" profile for the game, but we don't know what that means yet. Is it 2D+Depth, or is it real 3D? Please comment below if you can.
While this is a bit cryptic, DDD also remarked that their new beta features improved DX11 game profile capabilities. It would be great if they could express what the improvements are or what new features have been added for gamers. TriDef has made great strides in the last year with game support and improved features, so inquiring minds want to know!
